How My Christmas Break Began

Did I ever tell you that my baby sister used to model winter clothes?  Yeah, I lived in the shadow of her beauty for years.  And of course on day 1 of Christmas break at the Usher house..what does she have to go and do… she has to pull out her old modeling outfit and show off.

My kids had no idea of the talent!  Shock in those little faces!

And this is how my Christmas break began.  (Thanks Sarah for the entertainment.)

Merry Christmas You All!

May your day be happy & spent with people you love.

Love,
The Beechers

Welcome to the World Mason & Molly

Many of us bring kids into the world one baby at a time, but this family just happens to sometimes bring them in 2’s & 3’s. (Mason and Molly have triplet siblings to give them advice for their new lives on earth.) And the parents, they are truly amazing people. You can’t imagine more wonderful people to take this task on. Mason came in around 5 pounds and Molly around 7 pounds. (Mason was a gentleman and let Molly eat first.) Here are some pics of them about a week old.

Sing it Baby

Today was a landmark day for Miss A.  Anessa used to really get upset and overwhelmed by the daily things in her life.  They call it Sensory Integration Dysfunction.  A lot of times kids with sensory issues are labeled as brats or naughty, but really they just struggle with how to cope with things and in turn act out.  With the help of occupational therapy she has been able to thrive and be HAPPY.  (It can be really miserable seing your child unhappy day in and day out.)

Things can still be very overwhelming to her, so I wasn’t sure if she’d make it through her preschool christmas program today (last years didn’t go so well).  But, with a lot of talking, encouraging, (bribery), she sang all the songs and sang them loud.  I was one proud mama.  Congrats Nessa!

road trip

About 8 years ago I took a road trip with hometown friends/sisters April & Joette, & my brother Nate.  We drove from Washington to Utah in an old T-Bird that had no CD player…so we brought a battery operated boom box instead.  Oh the life.

I love Joette and April.  They are like family to me.  April and Joette’s mom Edie Kaye spent the last 4 years fighting cancer.  She fought and fought and did everything she could to beat it, but after all was said and done she had a higher calling in a higher place and passed away just recently.

It had been so long since I’d seen April and Joette, and I was ready for a reunion.  So Joette met me in Rexburg and we headed to Utah to see April.  Nate had just moved to SLC, and before I knew it we were all in a car together again…with a CD player.

Thank you for the great weekend!  I love you guys.  And, we all love you Mama Tomblin!  Thank you for your example.

My 29th Birthday

I was on the road to Utah for my 29th Birthday.  Kevin and the kids were with me and Kev had to stop in Twin Bridges for a work meeting.  So I was left to entertain the kids in a small town for an hour and a half.  We had already stopped to eat lunch.  The restaurant had on their menu “organs and onions” and ”cow patties”, and it read on the front that ”Most people who have eaten here have gone on to lead healthy and happy lives.” :)  I passed on the organs and opted to eat a corndog.

It was cold out and not much to do, so I took the kids to ”The Shack”, a small restaurant that looked like it had some good icecream.  There was only a couple people inside and the kids had been in the car for a couple hours, so I just let them take off.  In the back corner of the restaurant behind one of the tables was a hot coal stove.  I didn’t even see it.  Paxton went right up to it and put his right hand on it and almost his face.  A man jumped up and said “he just touched the stove” and Pax just started wailing in pain.  It was awful.  Each of his little fingers blistered up and the top part of his palm.  Everyone was looking at me like I was the mother of the year.  I couldn’t comfort Pax and so I just started bawling.  I ran over to a house that I knew the lady was a member of my church and she helped me calm him down.  We just had to stand in the cold because every time we went inside he screamed from the warmth.  While I was holding Pax in the 20 degree weather, Anessa went inside to use the bathroom and missed the toilet.  She did however manage to go all over the floor, her pants, her shoes, her coat……happy birthday to me…happy birthday to me….

There was no clinic or hospital around, so we took off and Pax eventually fell asleep.  When we got to Rexburg we took him to the clinic where they removed all his blisters while he screamed.  I almost passed out from hearing the screaming.  Kids are so resilient though, because once his hand was wrapped you could tell he felt so much better and he was up and running.

I had cried so much that day.  I was exhausted.  That night though I was able to get on a computer and find that I had email after email from people for my birthday.  I don’t think I’d ever gotten so many in my life and I needed it.  I just have to say thank you so much for the kind birthday comments and emails.  It meant so much.  More than I can even say.  So thank you!  (And just so you know, the days after were really great.)

A Little bit of a Miracle

Not going to lie, it’s a little miracle that I actually made the wreath that I wanted to.  I usually don’t have the patience or the confidence in crafting things on my own.  After the men folk found all stuff for me on their hike though I couldn’t not do it.  It makes a great addition and smells good too.

Thanksgiving was wonderful and now the Christmas goods are up.

Advent calendar is from the Philippines and the Soap Stone nativity from Uganda.  It was fun to get everything out and as expected little fingers are finding them all quickly.
